COMPLICATIONS
As with any surgical procedure, there is the possibility of complications. It is important to distinguish between a severe expected event and a
complication, a distinction that is not always obvious. For example, treatment of a tumor in the periorbital region can lead to substantial edema such that the eyelids are swollen shut for several days, and while annoying, this would not be considered a complication. Table 138.8 outlines some of the possible complications of cryosurgery and helpful interventions.
